Welcome to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center - The National Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) website.

BSC-CNS is at the service of the international scientific community and industry that require High Performance Computing resources. Our multidisciplinary research team and our computational facilities –including MareNostrum – make BSC-CNS an international center of excellence in e-Science.

Since its foundation in 2004, BSC-CNS has developed an active role in fostering HPC in Spain and Europe, as an essential tool for international competitiveness in science and engineering. The center manages the Red Española de Supercomputación (RES), and is hosting member of the PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe) initiative. We actively participate in the main European HPC initiatives, in close cooperation with other European Supercomputing Centers.

BSC-CNS has been successful in attracting talent, with a total staff of more than 300 R&D experts and professionals, and our research is focused on four fields: Computer Sciences, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences and Computer Applications in Science and Engineering.

Most of BSC-CNS’s research lines are developed within the framework of European programs, and the center also does basic and applied research in collaboration with leading companies such as IBM, Microsoft, Intel, Nvidia, Repsol and Iberdrola. The quality of our investigation has been recognized by the Spanish government with the Severo Ochoa Excellence Center grant for cutting edge Spanish Science.

We are happy to collaborate in any scientific area where supercomputing can help to obtain new research results and to contribute to boost the scientific progress.
