Management
The Management Department is responsible for providing services for the scientific community, including the BSC researchers as well as the MareNostrum users, and for the internal staff. BSC provides innovative solutions with leading private companies taking into consideration the industrial applicability. This department includes the following services groups leaded by Ernest Quingles, Managing Director:
- The Administration and Finance service group manages the human resources, administrative and financial affairs of the Center. The team is leaded by Mercè Calvet, Finance & Administration Manager.
- Administration area: reception and logistics, space allocation and new offices, purchasing, execution tender process and secretarial support for directors and the rest of personnel. Two General Assistants (Laura Gutiérrez and Lourdes Cortada), a Purchasing officer (Cristina Vargas) an Associate Director Assistant (Núria Sirvent) and a Director Assistant (Neus Jiménez) constitute this area.
- Finance and accounting area: managing the financial resources of the Center, calculating and paying expenses, meeting budgetary obligations according to existing financial legislation and accountancy norms, managing and safeguarding acquired patrimony. Preparing budgets, the annual accounts report, the balance sheet, the liquidation of budget deficits, and the processes of accounting audits. Detecting and analyzing budget deviations. Acting as treasurer, managing relations with banks, dealing with suppliers, receiving payments. Working closely with the group manager, an account officer (Cristina Calonge) is in charge of this area with the support of a finance assistant (Judit Soldevila).
- Human resources area: managing selection processes (employment), hiring, training, preparing job descriptions, looking after labour relations and collective bargaining, planning careers and internal promotion, and preventing work-related accidents. Working closely with the group manager, a team of Human Resources officers (Lara Cejudo and Anna Martin) constitute this area, in order to support the Personnel Management services.
Project & Technology Transfer area is in charge of promoting, looking for opportunities, starting and, finally, managing any scientific or industrial external funded projects in the Center. A team of Research Project Managers (Gina Alioto, Nuria Nadal and Marta Rosselló), constitute this area, with the support of a project officer (Maria Carreras) in charge of the mobility program assistance in collaboration with the HPC-Europa Mobility Program coordinator (Fermin Sánchez).
- Marketing & Communication area is in charge of the corporate image, that includes the communication (Press) and the events organization, dissemination of our activities to the Academia, the industry and the Society. A Marketing Executive, Renata Giménez, and a Communication officer, Sara Ibañez are in charge of this area with the collaboration of the MareNostrum’s visits Manager, Oriol Riu.
